Animal communications researcher Maureen adopts a lost German Shepherd while visiting her dad in Chicago. Their professional and personal relationship grows during training in Miami until Bigdog finally “tells” Maureen that he has witnessed a murder. I have thought many times about the dog who witnessed the murder of OJ Simpson’s wife and if only dogs could talk.The author brings this type of situation to life in his book. It is a fast paced story with just the right amount of drama and realistic characters.
The characters are well crafted and interact well with each other. BigDog plays a big role and the author makes him very real.
The author also does a great job in educating readers regarding training methods for dogs to make them able to effectively communicate with their human companions. I found this information to be very interesting and engrossing.
The court room scene was also very good as it built a great amount of suspense and kept me guessing.
The turn of events that occurs caught me off guard. I won’t give you any spoilers but I liked how the author took us down a path that we thought would end one way and then zig zagged off like a rabbit in another direction.
I liked this book a lot and definitely recommend it.

If you like dog-forward fiction and are looking for something new, this is likely to please. Louie Flann has a unique and friendly style that never gets too gritty and is always charming. at $4.00 (or free occasionally) its a great deal and an even better read!
When you want to know what's going to happen next, the writer has done his job. Louie Flan definitely has done his job with this story. Although anyone who likes a good crime story and courtroom drama will enjoy the book, dog lovers will find it especially fascinating. As indicated in the acknowledgements, the canine courtroom testimony is a possibility based on real research that has been done with dogs. A fun book all around.
